Giving
இலனென்னும் எவ்வம் உரையாமை ஈதல்
குலனுடையான் கண்ணே யுள.

No pleading, \"I am nothing worth,\" But giving marks a noble birth
— 'I've nought' is ne'er the high-born man's reply;He gives to those who raise themselves that cry
யான் வறியவன் என்னும் துன்பச் சொல்லை ஒருவன் உரைப்பதற்கு முன் அவனுக்கு கொடுக்கும் தன்மை, நல்ல குடி பிறப்பு உடையவனிடம் உண்டு.
ஏழை என்று மற்றவரிடம் சொல்லாதிருப்பதும்,, ஏதும் அற்றவர்க்குத் தருவதும் நல்ல குடும்பத்தில் பிறந்தவனிடம் மட்டுமே உண்டு.
தமக்குள்ள வறுமைத் துன்பத்தைக் காட்டிக்கொள்ளாமல் பிறருக்கு ஈவது உயர்ந்த குடிப்பிறந்தவரின் பண்பாகும்
