ஒழுக்கத்தின் எய்துவர் மேன்மை இழுக்கத்தின்
எய்துவர் எய்தாப் பழி.

Conduct good ennobles man, Bad conduct entails disgrace mean
— 'Tis source of dignity when 'true decorum' is preserved;Who break 'decorum's' rules endure e'en censures undeserved
ஒழுக்கத்தால் எவரும் மேம்பாட்டை அடைவர்; ஒழுக்கத்திலிருந்து தவறுதலால் அடையத் தகாத பெரும் பழியை அடைவர்.
ஒழுக்கத்தினால் உயர்வை அடைவர்; ஒழுக்கம் இல்லாதவர் வேண்டாத பழியை அடைவர்.
நல்ல நடத்தையினால் உயர்வு ஏற்படும்; இல்லையேல் இழிவான பழி வந்து சேரும்
From propriety of conduct men obtain greatness; from impropriety comes insufferable disgrace
