Ignorance
அருமறை சோரும் அறிவிலான் செய்யும்
பெருமிறை தானே தனக்கு.

The fool that slights sacred counsels Upon himself great harm entails
— From out his soul who lets the mystic teachings die,Entails upon himself abiding misery
அரிய மறைபொருளை மனத்தில் வைத்துக் காக்காமல் சேர்த்தும் வெளிபடுத்தும் அறிவில்லாதவன் தனக்குத் தானே பெருந்தீங்கு செய்து கொள்வான்.
அறிவற்றவன் அரிய புத்திமதியையும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளான்; அதனால் அவன் தனக்குத் தானே பெரும் துன்பத்தைச் செய்து கொள்வான்.
நல்வழிக்கான அறிவுரைகளைப் போற்றி அவ்வழி நடக்காத அறிவிலிகள், தமக்குத் தாமே பெருந்துன்பத்தைத் தேடிக் கொள்வார்கள்
