Filthy in mind some bathe in streams Hiding sins in showy extremes
— Many wash in hollowed waters, living lives of hidden shame;Foul in heart, yet high upraised of men in virtuous fame
மனத்தில் மாசு இருக்க, தவத்தால் மாண்பு பெற்றவரைப்போல், நீரில் மறைந்து நடக்கும் வஞ்சனை உடைய மாந்தர் உலகில் பலர் உள்ளனர்.
மனம் முழுக்க இருட்டு; வெளியே தூய நீரில் குளித்து வருபவர்போல் போலி வெளிச்சம் - இப்படி வாழும் மனிதர் பலர் இருக்கின்றனர்.
நீருக்குள் மூழ்கியோர் தம்மை மறைத்துக் கொள்வது போல, மாண்புடையோர் எனும் பெயருக்குள் தம்மை மறைத்துக்கொண்டு மனத்தில் மாசுடையோர் பலர் உலவுகின்றனர்
